Oliver McGowan (Tier 1 and Tier 2)

The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism is named after Oliver McGowan, whose death shone a light on the need for health and social care staff to have better training. The Health and Care Act 2022 introduced a statutory requirement that CQC-registered providers must ensure their staff receive learning disability and autism training appropriate to their role.

Tier 1: Administrative and reception staff, Human resources and corporate personnel, maintenance

Tier 2: Nurses, doctors, allied health professionals, Healthcare assistants, support workers, Social workers, care home staff, Mental health professionals

Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work (1 day)

A 1 day course covering essential life-saving skills for the workplace. Learn to manage unconscious casualties, bleeding, choking, and shock.

Ideal for: Small businesses, low-risk workplaces, and appointed persons.

Level 3 First Aid at Work (3 days)

This comprehensive 3 day course covers a wide range of first aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with emergency situations with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way.

Ideal for: Higher risk workplaces such as construction, manufacturing, and heavy engeneering.

Basic Life Support and Safe use of AED (1/2 day)

This 3 hour course covers basic skills inclduing CPR, AED use and Choking

Ideal for: healthcare professionals, clinical staff, social care workers, emergency responders, and the general public

Level 3 Paediatric First Aid (2 day)

This 2 day course satisfies the guidelines and criteria as laid down by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Ofsted

Ideal for: teachers, child minders, crèche assistants, playgroup personnel, anyone with responsbility of a child

Level 3 Emergency Paediatric First Aid (1 day)

This one-day Emergency Paediatric First Aid course has been designed for those who have an interest in child and infant basic life support.

If you have a professional interest, i.e. you are a child-minder or school teacher, etc, then this course partly fulfils the requirements of Ofsted and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Ofsted and the Early Years Foundation Stage require you to have 12 hours of paediatric first aid training, so the 2-Day Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid would be required to fulfil their requirements
